Gydoy Double Headed Glass Wand: Always a Curtain Puller, Never the Star (Guest Review)

Gydoy Double Headed Glass Wand

Always a Curtain Puller, Never the Star

Guest Review!

This month's review is brought to you by:
Isyld

This month, I bring you an extra special guest review from one of my regular readers! I reached out to Isyld to see if she would allow me the pleasure of interviewing her as a thank you for her kind words and continued support, and she eagerly agreed. As I mentioned briefly in the past, glass toys fall far outside my radar of experience, so including Isyld’s experiences with her own glass wand helps expand the horizons of this blog as well as my own. So, without further ado, please enjoy!

Isyld purchased her toy online via Amazon opting for something with positive reviews, discreet packaging and free shipping for Prime members. Unfortunately, she mentions Gydoy, the company behind her purchase, disabled their seller profile on Amazon and discontinued all of their toys. Further research reveals next to nothing about the company as they do not have their own website and rely solely on third-party marketplaces to sell their products. The only sites that still offer their toys give off rather seedy vibes, so I recommend avoiding them from now on and searching for similarly designed wands from other sellers. The Gydoy Wand normally retails for $16.98, but Isyld acquired hers for $12.49 with free shipping. At her time of purchase, shipping ranged from $3-6 bringing the toy to less than $25 total, a great value that unfortunately did not last. However, it is heartening to see that glass toys consistently retail online for relatively inexpensive prices even if their MSRPs trend towards the unecessary higher end. So although Gydoy no longer exists, you can still purchase glass dildos online for roughly the same price from other more reputable companies, such as Pipedream’s extensive Icicle collection. She also notes, “It came in a really fancy red box with this velvety holding bag as well. It was all rather luxurious.”

According to the dimensions provided on Amazon, the Gydoy Wand is about 7.5 in (19 cm) long with a 1.3 in (3.3 cm) diameter/4.1 in (10.4 cm) circumference at the widest point, and Isyld confirms the accuracy of these measurements. But because you do not use the entirety all at once, realistically the usable length is closer to 5 in (12.7 cm), less if shared with a partner. "As a first time sex toy, it was a good choice, but a more experienced user would probably not profit from this toy." She describes how the bulbous heads on each end make up this toy's pleasure profile and provide the focal point for stimulation despite the textures on the shaft. "I'd mainly focus on the head bulbs and think of the shaft as more of a handle than anything."

The Gydoy Wand is made from Pyrex glass, a type of borosilicate glass renowned for its durability and cleanability. “As my first toy, the material I chose was VERY important to me when making my decision. I chose Pyrex glass because it’s very body-safe and extremely easy to clean,” Isyld says. “It’s survived a couple of falls onto hardwood floor from pretty high places with not even a scratch. I’m sure it would last the rest of my life even with regular use. It’s a little heavy, and I feel like if someone ever broke into the house, I could give them quite the surprising bonk on the head!” Half of the toy offers a spiral pattern for stimulation while the other end provides a nubby texture. Unfortunately, because the bulbs on the ends are so large and require some coaxing before reaching the shaft, copious amounts of lube are necessary for the best experience. Isyld personally enjoys the twisting pattern most because it causes the toy to “naturally turn around inside you” while her partner prefers the nubs for external stimulation. “I’d say for the most part, the tightest parts of your body will notice the little nubs, but the twist pattern will get you no matter where it goes because of how rigid it is. I find the small nubs to only really be enjoyable if you are either going really fast or really slow, but not in-between.” She also describes how she and her partner attempt to pin the shaft between them and “grind it out,” but because the glass cools down too quickly for it to remain enjoyable, they usually abandon this endeavor.

While an effective anal massager, the Gydoy otherwise falls under the category of a novelty toy rather than a successful masturbation tool. “For its short-lived lifespan in our bedroom, my partner used it as a tease for me. She enjoys being dominant and powerful, but it’s hard to play rough with something like glass because it gets uncomfortable too fast.” Isyld describes how it worked wonders as a foreplay assistant, especially since she and her partner take several hours to both finish and have contrasting body types. Her partner's petite body structure prevents her from utilizing the entirety of the toy. "Even with copious amounts of lubrication, it is just too painful for her to even get the bulb inside." Isyld, on the other hand, slips the sucker in with a little jostling and a lot of lube and commences the jiggling! However, she still admits the Gydoy Wand works best as an anal toy.

Despite some setbacks and hurdles, it still spiced up their sexual endeavors and kept interactions interesting, at least for a little while. “We’d heat it up with warm water, and my partner would use it to sort of massage me. At first, it was fun to use internally, but we quickly found that the amount of lube and ensuing mess was just too much of a hassle for our needs.” Isyld discovered the toy’s full potential as a solo activity in the shower. It requires less lube, minimal clean-up and stays warm throughout the whole process unlike the cooldown they experience when transporting it to the bedroom. She also recommends it as a great toy for the fellas because its build manifests itself as the perfect prostate massager. This dildo requires copious amounts of preparation (such is the nature of glass) and limits your range of movement while using it or else you may accidentally find yourself in a world of hurt. The curve of the wand better lends to the natural shape of your body, but its rigidity means you must be mindful not to pinch your tender insides. Since Isyld’s body is built for endurance, the Gydoy Wand does not hinder her much, but she still takes care not to give herself a painful experience. “You have to go slow with glass. You absolutely cannot do a lot of hip movements with this toy. If you want to try and ride it, you will be going up and down only or else it’s going to hurt a little bit.” Other than some precautions during use, cleanup is an absolute breeze and the least of your worries. Simply use warm water and soap, or for a more intensive sanitation, boil the toy or run it through the dishwasher.

"This toy is not a superstar. It's more like a curtain puller. It'll open the door, but it's not going to finish the show. However, I do think someone who enjoys anal play would find this toy pretty refreshing." Isyld says the Gydoy Wand lost its place in her bedroom activities and only sees the light of day once or twice a year. "It has become my 'special' occasion toy, but for those moments it is very fun." Despite its lack of a lasting impression, she recommends this as a great beginner toy especially for those looking to test the waters of anal play. The bulbs act as a stopper to minimize any concerns about the toy falling out of place mid-action and also allow for use with a partner if desired or applicable. "I would never recommend this toy to an experienced user. It's just too small, and there are so many other options out there. Just remember to generously use lube and go slow!"

nü Sensuelle Extreme: Too Much of a Good Thing

nü Sensuelle Extreme

Too Much of a Good Thing

When shopping for an adult toy, especially online, descriptions tend to boast promises like, "Powerful vibrations! Over 20 different functions! You will experience the most intense orgasms ever!" This convinced me to empty my bank account immediately on a handful of occasions. But I quickly understood a toy needs more than just a powerful motor to provide that flawless blend of sensations. With a name like the nü Senselle Extreme, I expected nothing less than one hell of a ride that left me quaking under my sheets, but what I received instead was dissatisfaction and a lesson well learned: you can have too much of a good thing. So I advise you, my dear readers, to take these advertisements with a grain of salt and recognize that powerful does not necessarily mean best.

Like my Shibari Halo Wand, I purchased my nü Sensuelle Extreme at The Garden, a local adult shop in Ohio staffed by a handful of friendly and knowledgeable individuals. After my resounding success with "Magic Mic" based on their product recommendations, I sought another powerful traveling companion to pair with my wand. At this point in time, I'd nearly finished vacating my Ohio apartment and prepared to endure my last interstate drive with my belongings. Because I spent such a prolonged amount of time on the road, I wanted a toy smaller, more discreet and essentially the perfect pocket-sized pal, thus preventing me from packing a duffel bag full of sex toys when I traveled. Ideally, I desired something that doubled as a bullet vibrator and a dildo for on-the-fly stimulation changes without busting out the toy box and dirtying more pieces, a luxury I could not afford during a move. I also wanted a slim little number to share with my lady since her sensitivity to size and girth prevents her from experimenting with any of my other toys. And so, while passing through Ohio on my way to the East Coast, I picked up this Extreme and gave it a whirl in my motel room that night.

The nü Sensuelle Extreme normally sells for $76.99 which, armed with the experiences and knowledge I have now, is an absurd price for something I deem only average in function. At the time, I believe I paid around $60 for it in-store. Even though I purchased it only a few years ago, the company discontinued this specific model in favor of the Touch and Point which I presume still retail for approximately the same cost. Even Amazon no longer carries the Extreme model. Other online marketplaces may still offer the Extreme, but as far as my research goes, it is officially retired from the adult toy industry.

Even without the specific dimensions, slender best describes the overall size of this toy: 6 in (15 cm) long with a 3 in (8 cm) circumference/1 in (2.5 cm) diameter. Unfortunately, this personally prevents me from using the Extreme as a suitable dildo because it lacks enough girth to properly stimulate me. I'm aware of the sensation of it sliding in and out of me, but I derive no pleasure from this. Still, the sleekness and initial vibrations feel pleasant enough that it offers decent foreplay. In addition, for those readers who raise their eyebrows in horror at the average girth of my recommended toys, this may be the ideal companion for you.

Like many of the futuristically-styled, sleek adult toys, the nü Sensuelle Extreme offers an utterly smooth surface of high-quality silicone over a sturdy plastic interior. I always adore the way this silicone feels on your bare skin, like when I brush the back of my hand against my lady's thigh, silky in an otherworldly sort of way. And this sleekness also means the toy is extremely easy to clean and maintain.

But, as I previously mentioned, I find it difficult to use the Extreme as a dildo due to its slender size providing me next to no stimulation. When I perform a pistoning action by thrusting it in and out, the sensations feel pleasant enough but only when conducted at a machine-gun pace. Such a slim profile offers minimal surface area for a proper handhold and therefore, when coupled with how rapidly I must thrust, causes my hand and wrist to cramp up almost immediately. Especially when lube gets involved, it easily pops right out of your grip.

Unfortunately, it fails to work solely as a vibrator too, which leaves me wondering how I'm supposed to use it at all. Unlike with the Shibari Halo Wand, the vibrations are not concentrated in one area but dispersed throughout the entire toy. It works well enough when paired with better toys such as the Halo Wand, but when used alone, it falls short. Because the vibrations are not centered in the tip, it doesn't function well for clitoral stimulation. I experience the buzzing most in my fingertips and not against my other tips. These vibrations operate best internally, but again, the nature of the stimulation is not climax-inducing. While powerful, they do not penetrate my nerves because my body absorbs most of the shock and dissipates it before it arouses me. As for anal play, that's absolutely out of the question. I attempted it once and only once. Even on the lowest setting, I experience only pain because the sensations are much too powerful and cause my body to involuntarily tense and clamp down around the toy.

Yes, this toy provides powerful vibrations just as its marketing description promises, but because they are not deep and rich, the power level becomes meaningless. Although it boasts twenty different functions, anything past the first setting numbs me within the first few minutes and borders on painful. Beyond the first three steady drones, the rhythmic patterns it offers tease and pleasure mildly but are still too sporadic and varied and only distract rather than tantalize. Only three or four patterns have any noteworthy merit and are worth using at all, but keeping track of their locations in the pattern list makes them obnoxious to cycle to. Plus the massive button press necessary to even change patterns automatically makes it a waste of time. You must force your finger deep into the end of the toy before the button clicks. On top of that, the best patterns incorporate the maximum vibration strength possible causing overstimulation anyway.

As for the battery, it provides zero indication when it needs charging. Unlike with other toys where the vibration strength decreases over time as the charge runs out, the Extreme simply shuts off abruptly with no warning. So unless you charge it daily or after every use, if you happen to be in the middle of a heated session and it hasn't visited the charging dock recently, you are out of luck. The charging dock itself desperately requires a redesign as well. Made of flimsy weak plastic, it implements no weight system in the base so knocking it over is disgustingly simple even before you set the toy in it. While the Extreme utilizes nodules that nestle in the charging dock, these nubs are not magnetic and do not snap into place. The entire set-up is very precarious, and you must balance it perfectly in order to charge it correctly.

I used to consider the Extreme a worthwhile use of my money and time, but now I own other toys that far outperform it. Sadly, it now gathers dust on my shelf while I focus my attention on other potentials and favorites. Though a convenient travel size and made from fantastic materials, it's simply more trouble than it's worth. I never thought I'd consider a toy too powerful for my tastes, yet here I am. I find this a shame because the toy has a truly lovely design but is just lackluster in every other way.

Even if aspects of this toy appeal to you and you're considering purchasing one, I recommend spending your hard-earned money towards something more useful and more likely to stimulate you in the correct ways. If you desperately need vibrations as powerful as this, then you've found the perfect tool. But if you're like me, your money is best utilized elsewhere on something better tailored to your needs.

Cobalt Blue Pleasure Wand: Lacking in the Pleasure Department

Cobalt Blue Pleasure Wand

Lacking in the Pleasure Department

A quick disclaimer before the review begins: the dildo in the above illustration is not completely accurate in scale. I try to depict the toys as true to life as possible, but I got carried away with this month's image. In the future, I'll provide a better representation of what I review so you receive authentic information. And now back to your regularly scheduled program!

I have little experience with glass dildos as I write this review, and my arsenal of sex toys still lacks in that department (although I'd like to change that one day). But I find glass dildos absolutely gorgeous, like little works of art you can stuff inside you. Whenever I swing by the nearby sex shop, the ones nestled behind the safety of the display case take my breath away. For a moment, I almost forget the creators intended them as sex toys. I used to own a lovely little number while in college, Don Wand's Pleasure Wand in a rich cobalt blue color from Amazon, yet sadly, because of said little number, I shied away from glass dildos for years. It set an unfortunate precedent for any future purchases because I experienced another world of pain each time I tried to use it.

When I purchased this Pleasure Wand in 2011, it retailed on Amazon for about $12, a fantastic price for a quality glass dildo, but years later you can own this piece for the low, low price of only $5.99! Unfortunately, Don Wand lacks their own official website, and their Amazon store keeps experiencing issues when displaying their complete inventory, but a search for Don Wand on Amazon or Google yields numerous results, and their dildos average around $10 each. The Pleasure Wand has a total length of 7.5 in (19 cm) with a 1.25 in (3.2 cm) diameter/3.9 in (9.9 cm) circumference shaft and a 1.5 in (3.8 cm) diameter/4.7 in (11.9 cm) circumference head, a pretty straightforward and standard dildo size, all things considered.

As previously mentioned, the Pleasure Wand and all of Don Wand's dildos are made of glass and a specific type of glass called borosilicate known for its improved shatter resistance compared to "normal" glass. With maybe the exception of medical-grade silicone, glass is one of the safest materials for the body (as long as no cracks or chips are in the surface) because of its natural hypoallergenic, non-porous and phthalate-free qualities. I prefer silicone toys mainly for peace of mind since I'm naturally clumsy and I know one day I'd knock my beautiful glass dildo off my desk and let out a slow-motion, "Noooooooo," as it falls to the floor. Even a shatter resistant material isn't completely invincible to linoleum.

You should prepare to hear this from me quite often, but I love and value the surface texture of toys, which I regard as a very important selling feature. If the toy fails to tickle your fancy, then why bother spending money on it? I know different people value different properties in their toys such as length, girth or angle, but texture still covers a lot of ground in the sex toy realm and is a safe bet to discuss critically. The nubs on the Pleasure Wand feel amazing since they stick a good two or three millimeters off the shaft, and every bump ripples against your walls when the dildo moves in and out of your body. And the color, while advertised as a deep cobalt blue, actually appears more black until you hold the toy up to the light. I personally find it gorgeous though some owners expressed their disappointment with how dark it looks in-person.

Unfortunately, the positive reception ends here. Despite its manageable length and delicious nubs, this dildo continued to give me painful experiences no matter what I tried. The Pleasure Wand has a slight curve to provide better G-spot stimulation and a large head to enhance this sensation, but the only sensation I experienced was the awful pinching and crushing of my vaginal wall against my pubic bone. Yes, it felt as painful as it sounds. Because the glass has zero flexibility, I could only use the toy in a very specific position: on my back with my legs tucked against my chest which made holding the dildo awkward and uncomfortable. Doggy-style? Out of the question; the head scraped across my pelvis and threatened to take some tissue with it. On top? Please no; the curve of the shaft refused to work with the curve of my body. Anal? I died a little inside; that head is just too big and solid so my muscles never relaxed around it. Maybe my physical make-up prevents me from using it to its full potential since the Pleasure Wand received positive reviews on Amazon, and many buyers raved about how wonderful it feels, but other buyers also expressed concern with its size and angle. I want to love this dildo when the bumps send me into a frenzy, but I simply can't when it keeps smashing against my tender bits.

In the end, I wish the Pleasure Wand was more effective in its mission to please, and it might achieve this goal with a smaller head or without the shaft curve, but I think just a smaller head would do the trick. Other reviewers say it's perfect as is and some, to my surprise, say it's one of their first toys ever. So with that in mind, maybe I'm too biased in my opinion. Always take what I say with a grain of salt, but at the same time, consider what I say as an alternate approach, the other side of the coin. You don't always want to hear just the positives of a product. Regardless, I recommend the Pleasure Wand for intermediate or flexible users and go into its purchase with your limits in mind.

The Sybian: Misconceptions About the "Master"bator

The Sybian

Misconceptions About the "Master"bator

This month's review is brought to you by:
Adam

I'm going in dry with my first review. Nothing cutesy, nothing safe. I locked my sights on this juicy gossip: I'm analyzing the infamous machine that supposedly gives the rider near seizure-inducing orgasms and leaves them screaming for another. And another. And another. Regarded as the holy grail of sex toys, its name is whispered with a sigh of envy and desire. Yes, today I'm taking a look at the Sybian.

A gentleman on craigslist.com advertised a brand new Sybian purchased on impulse and available for a test ride. Naturally, I jumped on the chance and contacted him immediately. The basic package on the Sybian's website costs a hefty $1,400, so unless you have disposable income, this is a "toy" many only dream of owning. The company does offer a 45 day trial period, free US shipping and a lifetime warranty for hesitant buyers, but it is still a serious investment. So it comes as no surprise that given the opportunity to ride one with no strings attached, I seized the opportunity in a vice grip.

The saddle that houses the motor weighs a substantial 22 pounds (10 kilograms) and felt incredibly sturdy and stable when I first laid hands on it, so I had no worry that I might accidentally tip it over. It measures 13.25 in (33.7 cm) wide, 12.5 in (31.8 cm) long and 8.5 in (21.6 cm) tall without any attachments which add an additional 2 in (5.1 cm) to the height. Covered by a faux leather material, it makes clean-up speedy and maintenance a breeze. As for the attachments, a basic package comes with two to four standard options, but the website offers a chocolate box of choices ranging from non-insertable slips to lifelike removable covers to G-spot stimulators. All of their attachments are latex and phthalate free and made from 100% medical-grade silicone. Other accessories include two plastic risers that fasten between the saddle and silicone attachment to raise the clitoral portion closer to the body, which I found extremely helpful. It also comes with a set of stems and springs that, when inserted into the hollow portion of the attachment tips, give them structure and customize flexibility.

The Sybian can sit on any stable surface such as a floor, table or bed, but you must be aware the vibration carries through the surface it rests on. And my goodness, let me tell you about the noise! I expected a loud volume considering the power of the motor, but when I cranked the dial up to full blast, it sounded like a lawn mower. Even at half power, it still packs quite the decibel level. So if you have neighbors in the apartment below you or your parents are in the living room downstairs, realize that they know that's not a power drill you're using.

But enough with the technical details, time to move on to the experience itself! I set up the Sybian on a bed because of the above mentioned reason and to alleviate pressure on my knees after prolonged use. The mattress helped muffle some of the vibration, but the noise still carried easily. I started with the medium standard attachment, arguably the more recognizable tip in pornographic media. I turned the rotation dial to maximum speed (because I love me some G-spot stimulation) and started the vibration at about a quarter turn to take it nice and slow. The medium tip felt pleasant with the vibration turned off entirely because I noticed the subtle movements inside me, but as soon as I turned the vibration on, I lost all nuances in the overall sensation. I occasionally detected a bump against my vagina, but the insertion had essentially disappeared.

It took me some time to work myself into enough of a mood to climax, but when I finally did, it felt fantastic. Not because it was explosive or mind-numbing like I expected, but I rode it out longer than I typically could with most other methods, a solid two or three minutes compared to an instant firing of the neurons. Unfortunately, the orgasms I experienced after that first one were above average at best. I climaxed one more time on this particular attachment before I exchanged it for a fresh one.

The second attachment, hands down, was my absolute favorite: the GMax. It required some coaxing to fit it inside me, but when I finally sat down completely on the saddle, it made up for what the first tip lacked in terms of G-spot stimulation. Although the two orgasms I experienced from it felt lovely, I adored pleasuring myself up to that point most of all. The girth stimulated all of the spots I needed, and I exerted little effort to reap the benefits.

However, I began to notice at this point that the vibration power had its downsides. Unlike a handheld vibrator such as a wand or bullet, the Sybian provides all over stimulation, which may initially sound great, but after a while my pelvic region grew fairly numb. If the vibrations were concentrated around my clitoris, it would make climaxing much more effective, but instead I experienced a constant drone against my thighs and pelvis. It numbed me faster and more thoroughly than other powerful toys I've tried.

The final attachment I experimented with was the double, which honestly disappointed me. There was no vibration in the anal portion where I wanted it most, and I couldn't grind on the clitoral nubs without it popping out of place. I climaxed once and decided to call it a night. I wanted to test a few other attachments such as the RealLike 'Cover' and possibly the finger, but my legs were shaking so violently from all of the stimulation that I couldn't stand up and fell off the bed. In total, I used the Sybian for about an hour and climaxed five times. The next day, my muscles felt so sore I thought I worked out at the gym instead of riding a powerful sex machine.

My final thoughts on the Sybian are favorable but also indifferent. I had heavy expectations caused by the hype the Sybian receives, and in the end, it did not live up to them. Did I enjoy myself? Of course! Would I do it again if the opportunity came? Absolutely! But based on my experience, I would not consider owning one for myself. Granted, numerous factors affected my enjoyment such as an unfamiliar environment and performing within a time limit. If I had the chance to experiment freely within my own home, perhaps I might change my opinion. But from my initial interaction, it failed to win me over. I did appreciate the minimal exertion required to climax, and I loved the jump-on-and-go approach it offers, but not for the price tag. However, if someone really has their heart set on purchasing one and can afford it, go for it! I think it works as an amazing tool to teach you the responses of your body and as a sexual supplement, as the company advertises. But for those folks who already feel comfortable with their sexual prowess or simply want to know what it's like, you're not missing out. It's a great experience but not one you have to keep on your bucket list.
